Ahhhh, the darling buds of May: Emeralds!! For all you lucky May babies, that fabulous green beryl is your birthstone! More valuable than diamonds, these gems have been coveted since 4000 BC, and were well known to be Cleopatra’s favorite rock. Of course they were also a favorite of La Liz, whose legendary emerald suite was purchased at Bulgari by Richard Burton while they were filming Cleopatra in Italy. Sigh.

Sacred stone of the Goddess Venus, emerald is a symbol of “successful love”, hope, devotion and adoration. Give your lover an emerald to stay faithful(!). The green color also symbolizes rebirth, fertility, and new possibilities. Emeralds boost creativity and guard against spells and enchantments! What more could you ask for?
