Skull jewelry, better known as “Memento Mori” is hundreds of years old, a classic reminder to either be sad cause we’re all gonna die, or to seize the day (cause we’re all gonna die). Memento Mori is Latin for “remember you must die”. I’m gonna pick the Carpe Diem version for my own fine self.
I generally don’t like like dolls, I find them creepy. But I’ve always liked bones (go figure) and I recently scored some cool carved pearl skulls. I decided they would be good as Carpe Diem pieces paired with some Mexican fire opals. These babies will help you spark creativity, passion, and joy of the heart. I don’t know about you, but I have been in serious need of some joy in my heart. Making this stuff made me happy so it obviously works.
I like old “artifacty” (is that even a word?) stuff. These Mexican cantera fire opals just look old, like they were meant to hang out with skulls.
Not a skull fan? How about some beautiful tanzanite? Tanzanite lets workaholics slow down to bring success in other areas (maybe more important than chasing $) but it also brings luck and good fortune so it’s win/win. I’m liking the opals hanging out with the tanzanites too.
And maybe to match?
I kinda like these pieces because they appear to be “dug up” from the earth. I have been kumbayaying with a raw tanzanite crystal and decided to set it so that it looked like an “eroded” artifact. Maybe I went too far?
What do you think? There’s a comment section that would love to hear your opinion! These pieces can be found in the “Otherworldly” or “Her Purpleness” section of the shop.
Love them. Super fun!
Thank you Kate! Most people wouldn’t call skulls “fun”! You must be my tribe 🙂
Beautiful pieces. Well worth the wait!
Thank you Céline!
